Kick For A Cure is a non-profit charity that raises money for Lung Cancer research. Our goal is to raise $100,000 and create a fund for which various research organizations can apply for grants. A separate fund is also being established for families that may fall short on insurance when they find that a loved one has been diagnosed with any form of Lung Cancer. We are committed to saving lives and helping people stay healthy through our series of aerobic programs. Volunteers and donations are always welcome.

As New Yorkers, we’re fortunate enough to have the best medical care in the world right in our own back yard. Unfortunately though, it’s not always available because of cost, insurance plans and, surprisingly enough, the right advice.
When diagnosed with any form of Cancer, the most important first step is proper diagnosis which, in turn, leads to proper treatment. The more experience the physician performing the diagnosis has, the better the outcome (or so we hope).
We are establishing a relationship with Memorial Sloan Kettering where our funds will help pay the costs for the proper diagnosis of Cancer by some of the best doctors in the world. While most insurance companies automatically reject your “out of network” request when they see Sloan Kettering, there’s a reason they’re consistently rated number 1 or 2 in the country and always top 5 in the world. It’s because whatever type of Cancer is diagnosed, whether it be Lung, Stomach, Large Cell, Small Cell, etc. – there’s a doctor that specializes in only that type.
That dedication to Cancer treatment simply doesn’t exist anywhere else.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 by October 24th, 2004. This money will be used to cover costs for assisting people diagnosed with Cancer the opportunity to be evaluated by the finest oncologists in the world. We will assist in negotiating with insurers for the best treatment plans. We will help find the best medical attention there is.
Our eventual dream is to have, on staff, a medical adviser, attorney and insurance specialist that act as representatives to immediately assist the patient. Imagine being sick and having a team of professionals by your side to ensure you’re afforded the best opportunities to being cured?
I know first hand that those that assist their loved ones aggressively get the best attention in hospitals. For families that are so grief stricken or for those that don’t have the families to help them, we’d like to help. But we need your help too. Please give what you can and remember that your dollars will directly save or extend someone else’s life!
